Sunshine, Sniffles, and Spring Cleaning

Hey, Everyone! Sorry it's been a few days since my last post! I was sick for a week, then we traveled to Florida. It was great to see our family and take the kids to the beach!
We just got back in town and I'm trying to dig my way out of the mound of housework I need to catch up on from when I was sick, plus all the unpacking there is to do. Not to mention, it's spring cleaning time!

To get me inspired to clean, clean, clean, I put together a round up of some great spring cleaning schedules and resources for you!

A Bowl Full of Lemons has a 30 day spring clean challenge going on. I love that it's broken down into small chunks that I can get done during my kid's naptime!
I love how Tried & True broke her deep cleaning tasks down by room.
Little Ms Robinson has a great comprehensive cleaning list if you are more of a checklist kind of person. There is something so satisfying about checking the box, isn't there? ;)
The DIY Village has a great list of things you don't want to forget to clean!
The How-To Crew has some great cleaning tips!
DIY & Crafts has a list of cleaning hacks that will make your life easier!
I'm going to go put on some Uptown Funk and scrub away! Comment with your favorite cleaning tunes! I need some jams inspiration! :)

Happy Cleaning!

So Fresh and So Clean Clean

I know, I know, I'm behind on blogging the 31 Days Challenge. I've actually been keeping up with the projects, I just haven't blogged them yet. We've been really busy the last couple days and I'm super tired. Keepin' it real. :)

To catch you up... for Day Nine, I deep cleaned the fireplace. Thrilling, I know, but necessary. I scrubbed down the brick, mouldings, and grate. I didn't do the glass because the gas service man did that recently when working on our fireplace. I didn't take a picture of cleaning the fireplace, because it looks the same, just less dusty. Here's my favorite picture of the fireplace, though. I can't wait to decorate for Christmas again!
For Day Ten, I shopped online for artwork for the kids bathroom and for our soon-to-be gallery wall. I found a couple ideas for the bathroom and this artwork that I love for one of the frames on the gallery wall. It's by Katy Girl Designs and I really like several of her pieces.
I'll be back with Days Eleven and Twelve!

What a Little Elbow Grease Can Do

Happy Weekend, Everyone! Stopping in really quick with Day Four of the 31 Days Challenge where we try to tackle one project a day and mark items off of our to do list. We actually worked on two different things from our list yesterday! I made a wreath that I'll share later and Jeremy and Little Man scrubbed the front porch rails!

We usually do a spring and a fall cleaning, but we missed our spring cleaning due to our lives being upside down after losing Jeremy's dad and needing to make several trips to see family. Now, we're trying to catch up and get things back in order!

Here's how the rails were looking before their scrub. Pretty grimy.
Jeremy washed all the porch furniture the other day, so today he finished the front porch cleaning by scrubbing all of the rails. He pressure washes our house every year, but he can't pressure wash the rails because the paint will just fly off under the force of the water. He made a bucket of soapy water using blue Dawn and he and Little Man went to town scrubbing the rails with a sponge. Look at the difference between the dirty bar on on the left and the clean one on the right! Ew and yay all at the same time. :p
SO much better!
We are happy to have our porch clean once again! Catch up on our Southern Style Porch makeover we did last year!
I'll be back later with the wreath I made for our back door!
