#Homeforthefallidays Halloween Craft Blog Hop: Textured Jute Pumpkin

Halloween is right around the corner already! Can you believe it?! With two little kids at home who are easily scared, we don't do spooky decorations. But, we certainly do deck out the entire house with pumpkins!

Over on Instagram, a great group of bloggers and I have been doing a weekly #Homeforthefallidays game. This week, our theme is Halloween crafts, so we thought it'd be fun to do a little blog hop, showing you our projects a little more in depth! Be sure to follow us on Instagram so you can participate in the game! We'd love to see your fall projects, too!

For my Halloween craft, I upcycled a clearance pumpkin into a unique, textured pumpkin. Here's what it looked like before. Not terrible, but it didn't jive with the rest of our house.

I thought about spray painting it, but it was covered in some sort of peach fuzz, so I didn't think paint was the best option. Instead, I opted to cover it in jute ribbon!

To cover it, I cut 3" strips of ribbon and hot glued them into loops. Then, starting at the bottom, I glued the loops on in rows around my pumpkin, securing the loops with a dab of hot glue to the top part of the loop only. To finish it off, I glued jute twine around the stem.

Isn't it so fun? I love how it looks on our built-in!

I also love how it looks in our dining room. Where to keep it... decisions, decisions!
