Messy Mc Messerton

Every now and then, Hubby and I will get a bunch of great project ideas and unintentionally end up with a million projects going on at the same time. Yup, it's one of those times right now. You should see our garage. We've been giving something large a makeover, something little a makeover, scored something great on craigslist, and are doing a massive closet swap/reorganization. Details on them all are coming soon, of course. Here's a glimpse into the closet projects, straight from my phone.

Hubby + Plywood + Power Tools = Stud Muffin

Some of Hubby's handiwork. So thankful he jumps on my bandwagons and willingly builds me things. I love that man and am thankful he enjoys home projects.

This is what happens when you dump the entire contents of multiple closets into one room so you can reorganize. Keeping it real, folks. And there's a lot more stuff behind where I was standing to snap this picture.

One closet is just about done with the building phase, so after the paint and caulk dry, I'll be able to load it back up and take some after pictures for you. But until then, I'm shutting the guest room door and pretending the mess doesn't exist...and trying not to develop a twitch from the crazy state of our house. Ha!

Dining Room Progress: Curtains + Storage

We've been slowing chugging along in the dining room, trying to make some progress. Our kitchen does not have an official pantry, so storage was becoming quite an issue. We have been wanting to get a buffet for the dining room, but decided to get a small cabinet instead to hold food and act as an unofficial pantry. Funny how one room's organizational progress spills into the next room, right?

We found this adorable teal cabinet at Target and decided to use our Christmas cash to purchase it. I absolutely love it and think it adds such a fun pop of color. And I can't even tell you how much function it has added to our kitchen! We were able to clear three shelves of food out of the kitchen cabinets and put it all in the new teal cabinet. It makes things so much easier to find and organize! Yay!

Another update we recently did was hang the curtains my mom bought and altered for our Christmas present. I love that the teal leaves match the cabinet and help tie the colors together. Before we hung the curtains, you could see right into our house, even with the roman shades closed, so they were a necessity. Mom found out which curtains I had my eye on (I totally copied her curtains!) and bought them, then cut each panel in half and hemmed them just like we did in the living room. Then, surprise, Merry Christmas to us! :) I like that the skinnier panels keep everything light and airy and not too formal.

Our dining room is shaping up, but we still have a couple more things to do in here before we'll consider it "done". Here's what's left on our list. When we'll get to it is another story. Haha

-Lengthen curtains
-Replace lighting
-Paint walls
-Install board and batten treatment. I'm really loving this style, painted in a crisp white.
-Add more wall decor--I'm thinking some fun artwork and photos in white gallery frames.

Saturday's Pickins

I am not a frequent yard sale shopper, simply because I'm usually really tired and wanting to sleep in. The early bird gets the worm, though, right? I peeled myself out of bed yesterday morning at 7am and hit up a couple  nearby garage sales. I'm pretty excited about my findings! Here's my best deals of the day:

I have been on the lookout for a Radio Flyer wagon for Little One since he was a baby. I have considered buying one new, but the $75 price tag for the plastic kind was a bit too steep to fit into our budget. I've searched Craigslist, but even then, couldn't find one in good condition for cheaper than $50. I've seen other brands at consignment sales, but they've been really beat up and still around $20. Guess what I found today??? Stumped, aren't you? ;) I found this little beauty for $5!!! So stinking excited about it!

My other good find of the day was this Scott's spreader. Hubby's broke, so we were just going to buy him a new one at Lowe's this spring. They range in price from $35-$80. Imagine my excitement when I saw this at the same garage sale as the wagon! And for only $2!

I'm pretty much stoked! I'm thinking I'm going to have to get up early for garage sales more often!

Etsy Bitsy Crushes

I still haven't made up my mind about Etsy yet. I haven't found a good way to search, so it feels really overwhelming. But, after seeing these gems, I'm thinking I may be a more frequent shopper! Check out my current Etsy crushes:

I would LOVE this for our entry way! Love love love it! I dreamed of living in North Carolina since I was a little girl. When I found out we were going to get to move here, I ran and jumped and squealed like a giddy school girl. NC is pretty much awesomesauce.
I love this NC state art as well!

I think these pears are just so adorable! I've been crushing on them for a year now. My birthday is coming, sweet Hubby of mine! Hint hint! Haha! ;)

Living Room Progress--Rug Attempt #2

I've been on the hunt for a new rug again after out first attempt didn't work out. I've found lots of beautiful rugs, but ran into problems trying to get something to go with our dark green couches. We bought our couch right after we got married. I like them, but through the years, my decorating tastes have really gravitated toward neutral and light colors. The dark green couches don't quite lend to the light, airy vibe I'm going for, but at least they're super comfy!

Aaaaanywho... I had pretty much given up finding a rug in our price range and the style we wanted. Fortunately, I realized I'd never looked at Home Depot's rug selections. I did a quick search online and found a pretty, neutral rug at a fantastic price and they actually had it in stock at our store. We drove down and checked in out in person and bought it on the spot! It was so nice to be able to see it in person vs trying to find one online.
I really love the subtle pattern and how light and airy it looks! It is super soft, DOESN'T SHED, and was a fantastic price for an 8x10 rug! Boom shocka locka!
Little One was beside himself that we have a rug again and was literally rolling on the rug giggling when we brought it home. Our house has all hardwood floors, so I think he likes having a plush spot to play. Haha!

Random Finds

Some randomness for you today!

Method's Wood for Good polish and Squirt + Mop wood floor cleaner are awesome and smell SO good! I've tried a LOT of cleaners, but these are my favorites! They make me want to clean. I'm such a weirdo. I found the polish at Target and the floor cleaner at Lowes.
Found these goodies at World Market last week. A ceramic egg crate that I used to store my earrings (will blog soon) and these cute stacking cups I scored on clearance for my dining room! I hadn't been to World Market in a while, but I have a feeling I'll be going back a lot in the future! They have such cute things!
